How is an Italian "C" pronounced?

Have you ever wondered why an Italian “C” sometimes sounds like a “C” in the word “cat” and sometimes like “Ch” in “chocolate?” The word “Cappuccino” has both sounds in action. Here is why:

A “C” will always be like in “cat” unless IMMEDIATELY followed by an “E” or an “I” in which case it becomes like “Ch” in chocolate. It is as simple as that.

The Italian “G” also changes sound when IMMEDIATELY followed by an “E” or an “I”.

With both French and Spanish the “C” and “G” sounds change in exactly the same scenario as with Italian albeit with a different sound from each other then.
