From what I see when I tutor Maths, it is Algebraic Fractions. That applies to Fractional Equations and to simplifying Algebraic Fractions. All this costs significant marks at GCSE and A Level. The same seems to be true with Arithmetic Fractions. The good news is all this can be improved reasonably easily with perfect practice and a lot of it.
