Why are vertically opposite angles equal?

Subject : Maths

Vertically opposite angles are equal because they are really angles on a straight line twice over.

We know that angles on a straight line add up to 180 degrees.

If you subtract your starting angle from 180 degrees and subtract the result from 180 degrees again you will always be back with the angle you started with. That is why vertically opposite angles are always equal.
